Para Nuestra Gente!

Puerto Rico Empowerment Initiative — for our people

Angie Rose — Para Nuestra Gente partner

Para Nuestra Gente! is a Puerto Rico Empowerment Initiative led by Angie Rose and The Unstoppable Foundation, Julio "Dainamite" Santiago and Strong Grip, Hector "Machito" Camacho Jr. and his "Macho Dad" anti-bullying initiative, Dr. Khalilah Camacho-Ali and her "Color To Learn" manners and etiquette initiative, Carlos "Gastro Arte" Irizarry and his Gastro Arte P.R. company, Chef Rafy Rod and Fundación Plato Caliente, Michael Ommy Caraballo, and many others.

An initiative of unity, encouragement, engagement, resourcefulness and self-sufficiency. Inspired by the strength and resilience of our Borikén people, we aim to mend the broken, restore the destroyed, and rebuild the drained strength that comes from endured loss, neglect and abuse. Through educational workshops and free performances we inspire and empower residents to work together in harmony to help sustain their homes and communities.

Puerto Rico continues to face ongoing challenges beyond natural disasters — a fragile and unreliable electrical grid leaves communities without power for days or weeks at a time, and a recurring water crisis has left many families without access to clean, safe drinking water. These systemic issues compound the devastation left by hurricanes and demand sustained, community-driven action.

Due to the devastation from recent hurricanes across the islands of Puerto Rico, we unite those willing to lend their talent and time to help empower those in need. As a movement for "Our People," we call this unification of humanitarians Para Nuestra Gente!

After Hurricane Maria, Angie Rose and the Angie Rose Musik Team made a week-long trip to Puerto Rico with 1,000 solar lights and 20 solar cookers. While there, Angie and her team also assisted Talent4Change in picking up and distributing food and supplies gathered by Julio Santiago and The Puerto Rico Relief Committee — shipped from Florida — that would otherwise have been discarded or expired.

Chef Rafy Rod and his organization Fundación Plato Caliente were also a critical part of the Hurricane Maria relief efforts. Talent4Change connected with Chef Rafy Rod to get him needed water and supplies to support his mission of feeding people across the island. Through his tireless work, Fundación Plato Caliente cooked and served thousands of hot meals daily to families in the most devastated communities.

Through an initiative we call Seedlings EAT, we teach children and families in their local communities how to grow and cook their own food. We have joined efforts with companies like Gastro Arte P.R. (a founding partner of Seedlings EAT Puerto Rico), Fundación Plato Caliente and others to continue this vital work of feeding and empowering Puerto Rico's communities.
